The WHS Silent Auction is an annual fund-raising event put on by the 10th grade community: students, parents, families and friends. It is a festive party gathering with a reputation for good music, good food, and entertainment. A wide variety of items are auctioned. Art and other desirables are set out on tables for perusal and bidding. Other offerings include services, such as babysitting, massage, or carpentry. Professional expertise might include offerings such as leading a discussion group in a gathering of friends. Weekends at a cabin, and even a week in a Paris apartment have also been up for bid in the past. This fund-raiser contributes to WHS’ operating budget, with a percentage going to the 10th grade class for field trips and their senior class trip. The Silent Auction is a social event for the entire WHS community.
