Medieval Feast Apple Crisp Recipe and Instructions

Posted Wednesday, Jan 23, 2008 by ekallas

As in past years, we ask that friends and families of Watershed help provide dessert for the feast.  Below is a recipe for a Apple Crisp which could be delivered to the church on Friday, Feb. 1.  If it is not easy for you to whip this together, we will
gratefully accept a bakery or store-bought cake.  The cake should be somewhat simple in keeping with our Medieval theme (no bright
frosting, sprinkles or licensed characters please).  This will help with food
preparation, expenses, and logistics.  If you are able to help with the dessert, please
email me (karen.larson@target.com) to let me know.  Thank you very much.

Apple Oatmeal Crisp
(any fruit crisp recipe will do, if you have a favorite)

4 cups sliced tart cooking apples (around 6 apples)
2 teaspoons lemon juice
3-4 tablespoons sugar
1 cup rolled oats (either old-fashioned or quick-cooking)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
5 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. Place apples in a greased shallow dish.  One of those disposable aluminum 8 x 8
Squares or round pans would be good for this event, so you run no risk of losing your pan.
Sprinkle apples with lemon juice and sugar.
3.  Combine the remaining ingredients and sprinkle them over the apples. Bake for
about 30 minutes, or until apples are tender
